After mulling over my topics and checking with Annette Lamb, I decided to find out more about bathroom remodels/makeovers. Although I am truly interested in each of my possible topics, this topic had the most immediate appeal. I figured if I were concentrating on it for a class, maybe I could learn how to make our bathroom a more beautiful place.
I consider myself a DIYer (Do it yourselfer—at least a fledgling one), but my experience is mostly limited to painting and putting together manufactured furniture. I would like to focus on frugal ways to improve our bathroom; we will not be gutting it. : ) Our bathroom is also very small, so that will limit the focus as well.
Lamb and Callison write that as students approach real research they find "information problems and questions to be interesting, exciting, challenging, and personally meaningful." That sums up how I feel about my topic for this inquiry project.

Hi! I just finished remodeling our bathroom, so here I am offering my two cents worth - although my bathroom ended up costing a lot more than that! Let me tell you it was worth it. We gutted, pretty much, so let me share the smaller details that helped. HomeDepot.com for sure. many items aren't available in store, but they ship for free to your nearest location. I put a small shaving sink in one corner and it's an adorable way to make up for taking out the double-sinked vanity (a monster). I bought some texturing stone to add to my paint just for a little extra flair (and it covers problem walls, too-like, drywall glitches, etc..) Easy, but doesn't look like a "technique."
ReplyDeleteEconomy Plumbing downtown has a great showroom to get ideas - find something you like, and then look for it online - so much cheaper!
For a small bathroom - a pedestal sink is perfect, but then you have to consider lack of storage. Baskets are good for towels - corner shelving units pack a lot of space.
Does this count as research help? Hope so!
